Whitten Cases was founded in 1987 by Dan Whitten, built on a foundation of hand craftsmanship, hard work, and a relentless pursuit of quality. At the time, Dan was working long hours as a furniture welder at Steelcase, supporting his family while spending his free time playing pool and working with leather by hand. What began as a simple idea—making a cue case for himself—quickly gained attention as others recognized the craftsmanship and durability of his work.

Encouraged by early demand, including support from his local pool room, Dan realized he had created something special. What started as a small, hands-on craft soon became a true family effort. By 1990, his wife Ivonne and their son Joe joined him in building cases, each piece carefully hand-made. In 1993, Dan took a leap of faith, leaving his job and moving the family to Florida to pursue Whitten Cases full-time.

In Tampa, the business grew through dedication to traditional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Every case was built with care, precision, and consistency—values that defined the brand from the very beginning. Their journey, however, was not without hardship. In 2009, Ivonne passed away after battling brain cancer, and in 2012, Dan also passed. Despite these losses, Joe carried the legacy forward.

Even after taking over the company, Joe Whitten remained deeply committed to preserving the classic Whitten design language and craftsmanship that made the brand legendary among cue collectors and players. At the same time, he continuously refined and upgraded every aspect of the product — from materials and interior protection systems to stitching, structure, fit, and overall durability. By staying true to the traditional Whitten identity while relentlessly improving the cases in every detail, Whitten Cases has evolved into what many serious collectors consider one of the finest cue case makers in the world today.

Today, under Joe’s leadership, Whitten Cases represents the highest American Made quality. By enhancing materials, construction, and design, while maintaining the integrity of hand-built production, Joe has elevated the cases to an even higher standard. The brand remains rooted in its original values—family, craftsmanship, and doing things the right way.
