Treadway Custom Cues

Treadway Custom Cues is a respected American custom cue brand built by cue maker Josh Treadway of St. Louis, Missouri. Josh began making cues in 2010 after apprenticing under renowned cue maker Jim Buss, an experience that gave him a strong technical foundation early in his career. Since then, Treadway has steadily built a reputation among players and collectors for producing cues with excellent construction, thoughtful design, and a clear focus on playability. Today, he is widely regarded as one of the brightest rising stars in the modern custom cue world.

Treadway cues are known for their solid, balanced hit and meticulous craftsmanship. Josh is highly disciplined in every step of the process, from shaft construction and taper development to final finishing. His shafts are carefully aged and cut over long periods to ensure long-term stability, and his cues feature a modified pro taper designed to deliver a firm yet responsive feel. Each cue is also fully cored with laminated maple, enhancing consistency, structural stability, and balance from one cue to the next.

While influenced by many great cue makers, Josh’s career idol has long been Ernie Gutierrez of Ginacue. The timeless design language and legendary craftsmanship of Ginacue have played a major role in shaping Treadway’s approach to cue making. Today, Treadway Custom Cues continues to gain recognition for blending traditional cue-making values with a fresh, modern design perspective, producing cues that are both serious playing instruments and highly collectible works of craftsmanship.

When I first decided to build my own website last year, Nick Varner invited me to the International Cue Collectors Show in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Walking through the room, surrounded by some of the best work in the industry, one booth immediately stood out to me—Josh Treadway’s. There was something about his cues that caught my eye right away—the design, the finish, and the overall presence. When I examine his shafts more closely, I could immediately tell—just by the way they were made—that they were going to play exceptionally well. In that moment, I knew I had to carry his work on my website. It wasn’t just a business decision—it was a genuine appreciation for a young maker whose work truly speaks for itself.
