Josh Treadway - “Midnight Burl”

This Josh Treadway six-point custom cue is a perfect example of why I love Josh’s design work. Built on a deep Ebony forearm, the cue features three long Buckeye Burl points paired with three shorter Maple Burl points, creating a beautiful contrast of color, figure, and depth against the black Ebony.

The long Buckeye Burl points are where this cue really comes alive. Josh added delicate inlay work inside the points, giving the cue another layer of detail without overwhelming the natural beauty of the burl. That same design language carries into the Ebony butt sleeve, where the matching inlays bring everything together and give the cue a very complete, balanced appearance.

What I really like about this cue is how much detail Josh managed to incorporate while still keeping the overall design clean. The combination of two different burls, six sharp points, fine inlays, and Josh’s signature ring work gives you more to discover the longer you look at it, yet nothing feels excessive.

Even the matching joint protectors were designed to complement the cue, making the entire package feel complete. It’s a beautiful combination of exotic woods, thoughtful design, and the precise execution that makes Josh Treadway’s work so recognizable.

Elegant from a distance, but full of details when you get close — exactly the kind of cue that gets better the longer you study it.
