Fresh from the shop of 2025 Cue Maker of the Year Cory Barnhart, this cue is an outstanding example of Cory’s ability to blend classic American cue design with refined modern craftsmanship. While rooted in the traditional four-point player style, the level of detail and execution throughout this build elevates it far beyond a standard player cue.
The forearm is crafted from beautifully roasted Curly Maple, displaying rich caramel tones and strong flame figure throughout the wood. Under changing light, the maple shows remarkable depth and movement, giving the cue a warm, almost glowing appearance in person. Rising from the forearm are four razor-sharp Gabon Ebony points, each framed by striking quad veneers in white, sky, blue, and black. The color combination is bold but incredibly tasteful, adding vibrant visual energy while still preserving the cue’s overall elegance and balance.
One of the most impressive aspects of this cue is the precision of the point work and veneer execution. Cory’s veneers remain incredibly clean and even throughout the full length of the points, reflecting the level of craftsmanship that has made his work so respected among collectors and serious players alike.
The cue is paired with a black leather wrap that perfectly anchors the design visually while providing a confident, comfortable feel in hand. The darker tones of the wrap transition naturally into the ebony butt sleeve and points, creating a cohesive and highly refined overall presentation.
Adding another layer of sophistication are the upgraded ring packages throughout the cue. Elegant silver dot rings are featured at the joint and shaft positions, while all other ring locations are upgraded with beautifully executed Mother of Pearl and silver rings. The subtle shimmer from the Mother of Pearl gives the cue just enough brightness and contrast without ever becoming excessive.
The inlay work is equally refined, utilizing a tasteful combination of Mother of Pearl and Elforyn throughout the design. Together with the Super Tusk joint and butt cap, the materials create a crisp, clean contrast against the darker ebony and vibrant veneers, highlighting the precision and balance of the entire build.
Like many of Cory Barnhart’s finest cues, this cue immediately stands out visually, but the longer you study it, the more the craftsmanship and small details continue to reveal themselves. It is a cue that feels equally at home in a serious player’s hands or in an advanced collection.
