This exceptional custom cue by Larry Vigus showcases a beautiful combination of deep Gabon ebony and highly figured Honduran rosewood burl, carefully selected to highlight the natural character and movement of the wood. This cue born from what Larry himself called a “happy accident.” During the build, the Honduran rosewood burl fractured while being spliced, forcing Larry to rethink the design in order to preserve the piece. The result is a truly unique cue where craftsmanship and creativity transformed an unexpected challenge into something special.
A particularly striking feather is the knot-style design that flows beneath the veneers, creating a layered visual effect that adds depth and complexity to the overall composition. This subtle yet artistic detail reflects Larry's thoughtful craftsmanship and his ability to integrate intricate elements seamlessly into the structure of the cue.
When I once asked Larry if he could build another one like this, he smiled and shared the story behind it. Creating something like this wouldn't be easy, and Larry said he had to give it some serious thought if he ever attempted to make another one.
