Tim Scruggs

You might have noticed that at Cuellections, we usually focus on working directly with cue makers and offering cues fresh from the maker’s shop whenever possible. However, when I came across this rare Tim Scruggs cue at the Derby City Classic, I simply could not pass on it.

Part of that comes from the fact that Tim Scruggs is no longer with us, and opportunities to find authentic high-quality Scruggs cues in this kind of condition continue to become more limited every year. But beyond that, this particular cue immediately stood out because it appears to have been extremely well cared for throughout its life.

This is not a brand-new cue, but the overall condition is remarkably good for a collectible Scruggs cue of this era. Both shafts are straight, and the cue rolls straight both separately and together assembled — something increasingly uncommon to find on older collectible player cues. The finish, condition, and overall presentation still carry the feel of a cue that was genuinely appreciated and properly maintained by its previous owner. 

Combined with the unusually attractive veneer color combination and classic Scruggs execution, this became one of those cues that felt special the moment I picked it up. But most importantly, the cue simply plays incredible. The hit is extremely solid, with that firm, confident feedback that serious players constantly search for in older high-end custom cues. The balance feels naturally perfect in hand, giving the cue an effortless and very controlled feel through the stroke.

This is the kind of cue that reminds you why Tim Scruggs cues earned such a legendary reputation among players for decades. It is not just collectible — it is a true monster player that also carries genuine long-term collector value.
